Visa Photo Size Guide
Visa photo rules depend on the destination, visa type and application channel. Check the embassy or issuing authority first. Fogkits passport crop presets are reference options, not verified visa presets; the embedded tool on this page uses only the US 2×2 preset.
Start with the US State Department visa photo requirements or the GOV.UK instructions for your visa application. The application-specific checklist takes precedence over any preset shown here.
Preset sizes are what Fogkits exports. Official US, UK and India rules are on those country pages, not in this visa summary.

Quick answer
Is a visa photo the same as a passport photo?
Often the print size matches that country’s passport photo, but pose, background, recency and digital-file rules can differ by visa class. Fogkits country pages list the size we crop to; the consulate page is still the authority for your form.
How to prepare a visa photo at home
1. Confirm the destination
Open the embassy/consulate photo page for the visa you are filing. Note size, background and whether digital upload is allowed.
2. Capture a clear source
Even light, camera at eye level, plain wall behind you. Leave room around the head for cropping.
3. Compare the supported preset
This embedded preview uses US 2×2 only. Use it only if your official checklist permits the processing and output; other passport presets do not automatically satisfy visa rules.
4. Cross-check before submit
Compare the preview with the live official checklist. Fogkits does not guarantee acceptance.
Checklist
- Confirm your visa-specific checklist; this preview uses US 2×2 only
- Use a sharp, front-facing source with head and shoulders visible
- Match the background called out on that country page (US/India: white; UK: light grey or cream)
- Keep filters, heavy retouching and screenshots out of the source
- Review the free watermarked preview against the official visa photo FAQ
When to take another photo
- Wrong country size selected for the visa you need
- Busy background or hard shadows on the face
- Head cropped too tightly or tilted
- Glasses glare or filter effects still visible
- Compressed social-media download used as the only source

Frequently asked questions
- What size is a US visa photo?
- Check the State Department photo requirements for your application. The embedded Fogkits preview uses the US 2×2 inch preset at 600×600 pixels. A matching printed size does not establish compliance with visa-specific digital, editing or submission rules.
- What size is a UK visa photo?
- Follow the GOV.UK instructions for the visa and application channel you are using. Fogkits’ UK passport crop preset is 35×45 mm at 413×531 pixels; it is not a separately verified UK visa preset and should not be treated as proof of eligibility.
- Can I reuse a passport photo for a visa?
- Only if the visa instructions accept the same size, background and recency rules. When in doubt, follow the visa checklist even if the millimetre size looks familiar.
- Does Fogkits support every country’s visa size?
- No. Fogkits has US, UK and India passport crop presets, not a complete set of verified visa presets. The embedded preview on this page is fixed to US 2×2; other country presets are linked on their own pages.
- Is the online preview free?
- Yes. You can review a watermarked, size-checked preview for free. Optional HD download uses 1 credit.
- Does Fogkits guarantee visa photo acceptance?
- No. Fogkits prepares the crop and checks some visible issues. The embassy, consulate or visa centre makes the final decision.
